What a total privilege to have been a part of such a worthwhile and effective marketing scheme. The signs are everywhere – and they really are.
From the minute the brief came through, my brain (and everyone’s brain that was in my vicinity for the next month) became circularly focused.
On a plane? Check out those air-conditioning knobs.
Walking the street? Check out those mushrooms!
My friend literally called me from the side of the road having pulled over just to take a pic of boob-like buildings. Take a better pic of this pic, Nikki! OK Rox, thanks.
I’m particularly stoked with the hair buns idea. For one, I came up with it myself. For another, I am useless at doing hair so the fact that I achieved what was roughly in my mind is I think, commendable. I roped in my daughter’s friend with the colour of hair I wanted, purchased little pink ‘nibs’ hooray!
I also loved the others we came up with. A few didn’t make the cut including a wonderful church in town that my brother said he and his friends used to skate at. They affectionately referred to it as ‘the boobies.’ Perhaps it’s for the best it was left out…
Perhaps my favourite experience in the making of these was the double garage. I was driving through Porirua and noticed this kind of perfect house with door handles in exactly the right places…I asked a friend to go back with me and knock on the door to ask permission. A lovely old lady answered and said of course we can! A good cause! I love Porirua <3
Thank you to Women’s Work and Krystal at Ogilvy for the excellent opportunity.

I just rate this guy like you wouldn’t believe.
Like IMG where you at? I’m pretty sure you’re the best in the biz and Neo is the best.
I met Neo through the wonderful Kirsty Bunny Management (and as I’m typing I’m realising I haven’t replied to an email there eek) when I was searching for talent for a previous shoot. Kirsty was seriously the most helpful industry rep I had dealt with. She asks for mood boards and sends talent she thinks will work and does everything she can to make it work for both parties.
Don’t you expect really, really, ridiculously good-looking people to be a bit arrogant?
Same.
But I think it’s safe to say this shoot wouldn’t have happened had that been the case. Like who’s got the time?
So we shot the other shoot (blog to come) and I said to everyone OK I owe you a shoot! You gave your time and expertise for me for your portfolios, and I’d like to do the same for you.
It started off as this, it very quickly became BOSS. Another gem joined – Sheshe Sustainable Stylist. I’m definitely the bottom of the heap where talent is concerned here. This addition turned an idea into a glorious fashion-fiesta with looks from The Service Depot, Underlena and Neo + Sheshe’s own incredible collection items.
I got to play with a light. Oh small fry, little lass, small fry – alas! I loved shooting with a strobe, why had I not explored this before? So much joy! My on-camera connection to the trigger was a bit fickle and I fixed that (thanks for answering my call Jono) – that and the size of the soft-box (large) fitting in the size of the studio (small) were the only challenges there. Excited to add to my kit. Goodby new kitchen…let there be light!

Coveted Are magic makers.
I get to keep both my daughters’ impressions on a gold chain, and I rub it many many times a day. I love feeling close to them!
Oh and wanna work together? Drop me a hellote.

Gaea and Co make natural deodorant out of (you guessed it) natural ingredients that when used together – keep you feeling fresh and confident all day long.
That’s straight from the website, baby.
This was my last roll of film I brought home with me from living overseas. It took me a really long time to buy the right camera to go with this film. I enjoyed this.
Big thanks to Annika for this shoot.

Zeden Cider were after some new imagery – I love cider, so that worked out well!
I had a roll of film I had been wanting to use. This one was Kodak Portra 800 – I only wish I’d had more time – but film wasn’t in the brief so they were mostly afterthoughts.
I filled my car with lovely ladies, cases of cider, a little spray bottle of glycerine + water and GEMMA of Coveted to assist!
We were dropped off at the beach and set up camp around 6pm with rugs and wollies trying to make it seem like we were warm and in the middle of summer. We weren’t and it wasn’t.
But armed with our trusty ‘sweaty can spray’ I think we made a convincing case. For a Wellington Summer anyway.
Cheers to Splendid for the scans.

In the 16th century in Scotland, Earl Atholl prepared a glamping experience for his visiting King James V and his mother. Here, the earl bought the most luxurious tent and decorated the entire tent with objects from his own palace.
I’ve got to be honest, it’s hard to stay focused when Brookyln 99 is playing and I’m in 100% cosy mode with my bush shirt and track pants…but actually this is the perfect gig to blog when I’m feeling cosy soooooo…
I had the scrumptious pleasure of photographing for Te Awa Glamping a few weeks back.
Louise and her whānau met us at the site ready to work and I was blown away by their incredible family vibe and their straight up delicious children. I didn’t eat them… Yes, I am watching Yellow Jackets.
We went exploring along the awa and got wet and muddy and dirty and took pictures in the rain.
Not only did I get to enjoy this expereince first hand for 2 glorious nights – I also got to spend quality time with mate and stylist Gemma of Coveted.nz the best bespoke jewellery biz in town. Cheekily I had her model a couple times mwahahaha – enjoy!

I mean…does it get any better than this? HIGHLIGHT OF MY CAREER.
This is genuinely the most gushy ridiculous thing I’ve ever written but, do we all secretly have a crush on this man? Jokes jokes jokes…or am I?
I turned up (at the address given by the PR company) to photograph this legend giving away a trip to Fiji to an unsuspecting recipient.
Hilariously we both turned up at the wrong building (I mean they both have the EXACT SAME STREET ADDRESS SO YOU WILL FORGIVE US) and we got to laugh about it together and that was THE SECOND HIGHLIGHT OF MY CAREER.
Thanks Special PR for the gig that gave me the best party story ever (I can’t even write that on the blog it’s too good)!
See ya next time!
